When does the basketball season commence?

Summer Season begins the first week of Term 4 and runs into Term 1 of the following year
Winter Season runs over Terms 2 and 3

When are the games played?

Monday:  Girls U12 and U18
Tuesday:  Girls U14
Wednesday:  Girls U16
Thursday:  Boys and Girls U10
Friday:  Boys and Girls U9
Saturday: Boys U12 to U16
Sunday:  Boys U18 and U20 and Girls U23

Where are the games played?

Games are mainly played at Sandringham Basketball Stadium (SBA) King Club, Tulip Street, Sandringham (Courts S1, S2, S3 and S4) as well as some other locations. For example some U10 games are played at Cheltenham Secondary College, U14 boys at Parkdale Secondary College, U16 boys at Mentone Grammar and Girls U12 and U14 at Mentone Girls Secondary College.

When and where do you train?

Training is held at a day and time to suit games and volunteer coaches. Training is held at Parkdale Secondary College and other locations in the area.

How do I register?

When registration for a new season opens there will be a link on our website. Follow the link to record your child’s details and make payment. Current players are graded throughout the team to ensure they are placed in the appropriate grade. New players may be asked to attend a tryout/training session to ensure they are in the correct team for their skill level.

What age do you have to be to start playing basketball?

We like children to be 8 years of age before we place them in a basketball team. Prior to this they are able to attend our Dribblers Program where they are able to gain skills required in games. Details available on website.

What are the age cut offs for each season?

Summer and Winter Seasons – a player must be under the age stated in the relative age group by the 31st December in the year of the completion of that season.

Where do I purchase a uniform?

At Parkdale Pacers we order and supply our own uniforms. Prior to the start of a season check our website or facebook page to find out when a “Pop up Shop” will be open or alternatively email our uniform co-ordinator at uniforms@parkdalepacers.org

Can I request what number is on my uniform?

Unfortunately due to the number of players within the club we are unable to supply “number” requests.

What if my number is incorrect on website or scorepad?

Please send an email to relevant Co-ordinator to have your number amended

What if my number clashes with another team member?

If you are placed in a team and your number clashes with another player in your team one of you will need to swap their top over to another number. Generally the person who joined first will keep their number. Please email the uniform co-ordinator at uniforms@parkdalepacers.org to arrange a swap over.

How can I volunteer to assist?

We welcome all parents to get involved from coaching, becoming a Team Administrator or to joining our committee. Please contact the Secretary at secretary@parkdalepacers.org

What do I do if my child can’t train on the allocated night?

If you child is unable to train on your allocated training night due to other commitments please contact the relevant co-ordinator to see if it is possible to train with another team

I have never scored before. Are there any instructions on how to score?

Do I have to pay to enter the stadium?

Players and spectators aged U18 have free admittance to stadium on game days. Parents can either pay a casual fee to enter stadium or purchase a membership card.

What if I change my mind about playing after I have registered and paid?

If you change your mind prior to the commencement of the season we will refund your fees less an Administration Fee of $50.00 Please email relevant co-ordinator at

Do you have awards MVP or Coaches Awards?

At Pacers we believe Basketball is a team sport and do not give out awards.  Once you start giving awards you lose sight of being a team and it becomes all about individuals.
